Every word in a contract is there for a reason, don't let anyone tell otherwise. As an (non-music-related) artist myself, I have lost many career opportunities in larger production houses for refusing to sign because language used in a contract. Signing is always voluntary, and things will never change unless we stand upright against corporate bullies and overreaching contracts. Whatever the case, I believe firmly any artist should not let themselves be bullied into contracts they don't agree with. If you have any insights please let us know. And songs and albums do disappear from the library sometimes although rarely, one can't trust to have all of every playlist forever unlike files if well taken care of. It allows free discovery and exploration of new, even obscure music while all being legal, paid for and in theory fair to the artists.
